Quick Goodbyes
04:49

Six feet from the headlights;
twenty from the store.
Sometime way past midnight
in 1994
She had all her plans made.
None could shake her stride.
He married his soul mate
no thoughts of quick goodbyes.
2am on a Sunday.
Their plane took off at nine.
They drove through the storms of rain
to make it just in time.
When two had just a few
and another had too much.
Collision course on a Sunday
in an empty parking lot.
The day that they first met
Their futures intertwined
Stories shared and dreams were made
And laughs were mixed with wine
She had such a smile
He could not deny.
They walked down the isle,
no thoughts of quick goodbyes.

Glass Box
04:18
|

Watching closely as they avert their eyes.
Ignore the boy lost in space.
Let him drown in his own thoughts unkind.
Drain all the hope left in his mind.
The only remedy is to shut the door.
Pull closed the curtains, and hear no more.
All the joy that comes from love… it suffocates
Wonder if I’ll ever feel that way.
Because a look from the outside feels like I’m trapped in a box on the wrong side.
A look from the inside and I feel it is my fault.
Stand tall and be strong these wall won’t let you fall
until, of course, you do.
Cracked under pressure, the water pours right in
Catch your breath and submerge
Because a look from the outside feels like I’m trapped in a box on the wrong side.
A look from the inside and I feel it is my fault.
Inside this room I feel like I can’t hardly breathe
Fog up the glass inside this box
Hope one day some time soon I will talk to you
But until then I’ll just make do…
. . . . . . - . . . - - .

North of Now
04:48
|
|||
Run for the light at the end of the dark, hallowed road.
A cold wall on both sides, step forward and leave it all behind (only one direction to go.)
That flicker of light guides you along your way.
A moral compass north of now.
North of now,
North of now,
North of now.
Travel down this path, now way to stray at all.
Your insides feel hollow, but the end will fill your bones.
The higher the climb the further we fall
Oh our minds will minds will roam…
North of now,
North of now,
North of now.
Though it’s trite, don’t look back
Because you’ll see your past and
All you used to be.
What you almost had.
And all you’ve lost.
North of now,
North of now,
North of now.
North of now,
North of now,
North of now.
